Question
Does David Morrison believe that Man evolved from apes, according to the popular theory of evolution.
Understanding a science topic such as evolution is not a matter of "belief". Scientists look at the factual evidence and draw conclusions from it. In biology, the basic concepts of evolution, with the extinction and emergence of new species over time, was understood and accepted by the end of the nineteenth century. Charles Darwin's principle of natural selection outlines the fundamental process that makes biological evolution work. The detailed mechanisms behind variation and natural selection became evident during the twentieth century, with rapidly growing understanding of genetics and, more recently, of inheritance at the molecular level. The evidence shows that humans are most closely related to the existing apes, particularly the chimpanzee, and that we all share a common history, having diverged from an ape ancestor a few million years ago.
