Question
I heard that carbon doesn't originate from earth, so where do the carbon from earth come from? Will life exist if there is no carbon on earth?
Carbon is everywhere. Carbon is one of the four most abundant elements in the universe (along with hydrogen, helium, and oxygen). This is fortunate, since carbon also provides the chemical basis of life as we know it. Like all the elements beyond hydrogen, helium and lithium, carbon was manufactured by nuclear reactions in the interiors of massive stars.
